This year we have moved locations and now sail at a local private reservoir in a town called Otley which is just outside Leeds. The reservoir is currently used by, funnily enough, Otley Sailing Club. Otley is an historic market town which lies in the Wharfdale Valley. The club has been |

there for many years and has become very well established in the town. The members of the club are very friendly towards us and welcome our presence there. We located for a number of reasons but one main advantage is the depth of the water. Our last place was very shallow and muddy, which meant that every time the boats fell over, the sails got caked in mud that was very hard to clean. This unfortunately left the sails with an orangey red tinge that didn't look to nice, but not anymore, our new local is much deeper. The club house is well fitted, it has separate changing and showering rooms, the club is heated and has a garden and veranda for the nicer days of the year. It has a kitchen for making light snacks and refreshments. There are some nice jetties that will make getting in and out of the boats easier. There are rescue boat facilities that allow for better safety and training. It is a rule at the club that nobody goes out on the water without a buoyancy aid on, this is also a rule expressly enforced by LMUSC. We pride ourselves in being able to offer you the piece of mind that you will be safe. Okay accidents happen, but we try our hardest to keep you safe and fortunately to-date we have not had any serious problems or injuries. |
